So, I tried to view the final scene of tonight's White Collar from a non-slashy POV and I honestly couldn't. It was one of the most romantic things I've ever seen! Peter willing to do nearly anything to find Neal, Neal with tears streaking his face because it's so painful to choose to leave Peter. The dialogue is so fantastic--Neal seems to be trying at least as hard to convince himself as to convince Peter. And yeah there's all that "you can make a difference" stuff, but Peter's not there because of a moral abstract--he's there because he loves Neal and believes in him and wants to save him.
And, just look at the staging of it, Neal in the middle, torn between Peter and Kate. Kate beckoning him on to the plane and Peter on the ground imploring him to stay. I mean, has there ever been a scene in the history of cinema with a person torn between flying away with one lover or staying on the ground with another that wasn't romantic? It's even the setup for the climax of possibly the most romantic film ever!
Anyway, um, but maybe that's just me?
Regardless, it was an absolutely fantastic episode. I'm so happy that I found this show!
