I absolutely do not buy that post-S6 Buffy could possibly have loved, cared about, or valued Spike on his own terms without vast amounts of therapy and personal-growth.
An absolutely understandable point of view. :) My fanfic kink is abusive season 6 Buffy who slowly but surely goes through that personal-growth you mention. Herself's Bittersweet series does this well, I think.
I'm also intrigued by Nan Dibble's Buffy who, we find out, was incapable of feeling empathy towards Spike because that part of her was used to create Dawn.
There's just so many talented S/B writers out there who give me what I wanted--but didn't get--from the show.
