after my friend brigid told me that there was actually a lot of fanfic (which i had never read before for any fandom) about this vampire tv character i was obsessed with (which shocked me cuz i thought he was kinda goofy lookin' i've always had weird taste in guys and i had no idea anyone else even liked him) i did a search for "spike" "fanfic."

i got some horribly sad results that made me despair at the sorry state of this thing called fanfic. i found some hope with a couple archives that turned up that actually had some well-written stuff. but the archives were closed and woefully out of date. i found ficbitch, which rocked. and then peasant's plot, which gave me my fanged four fetish.

then i found allaboutspike.com.

wow.

it was the biggest, best-designed, easiest to navigate archive site i had found and the fics it contained were actually quite good.

i got inspired to write "chain" when i realized fanfic wasn't just silliness as i had feared. i had no intention of actually posting it.

then i changed my mind and decided to ask my stupid questions as to how to go about posting my fic somewhere at the allaboutspike discussion board.

and the moderator was really nice and didn't treat me like the idiot newbie that i was. she gave me some good advice that i mostly followed. except for the beta thing, cuz i was too impatient for that. (yes, i suck. ::hangs head::)

had the moderator smacked me down or mocked me for my massive ignorance i probably would have backed away slowly and disappeared from the internet altogether.

and then that moderator actually showed an interest in my silly little story and encouraged me to continue it.

so basically, everyone has that moderator to blame for irfikos' presence on the internet.

::points finger::

it's ALL. YOUR. FAULT.

i don't go to the boards or anything all that much so i don't know what you get up to there. but your lj rocks and i'm glad you didn't give it up.
