Vote!

[livejournal.com profile] justhuman has posted links to the voter registration forms for each state.

If you're not registered, please do so now.

In almost all states you need to be registered 30 days before an election -- some may require more time. These links should also be able to lead you to the information about absentee ballots.

Thanks for reminding everyone. I'm proud to say that I've never missed an election and I'm already signed up for my November absentee ballot (work issues often prevent me from getting to the polls).
BTW, I love your red hair. I was looking at WriterCon photos today.

I should ask you this since you seem to know alot about it...I registered awhile back, but my mother lost my voter registration card. Do I need to reregister or anything? Or will I still be able to vote?

Thanks. :)

Where are these Writercon photos, btw...? (Online somewhere?)

Erm.... I have no clue. One of the links [livejournal.com profile] justhuman provided might have an answer, or you could ask her (I'm sure she knows more about this than I do; I was just passing along the info).

If you remember your precinct you can just go there on election day. If you don't remember just call your local city hall and they will tell you what precinct you need to vote at.

Sadly, I have no vote, even though Mr Blair seems to think Britain is part of the USA.

voter registration card

For bloodypoetry: Normally, no one asks to see your voter registration card if you are voting in the same precinct you have before. They might ask for ID, and you do sign in, of course. However, after the problems last year in Florida, Chicago, and elsewhere, it wouldn't hurt to have it with you. Your local Registrar of Voters could issue you a new one (check online, searching Registrar of Voters plus name of your city/county). Due to legitimate questions about recount issues with computerized voting, you might want to vote absentee, but you need to apply in advance to do that. You SHOULD receive a sample ballot in the mail (all registered voters get one) before the election, and there is a form to send away for an absentee ballot on the back of that. But I'd check with the Registrar ASAP, anyway, if I were you. (Sorry--history and government teacher here!)
