questions for my flist

I finished State of Play and I LOVED IT COMPLETELY. I'll post an actual review after I rewatch it over the weekend.

[Poll #1135267]
Also, who said IMDB forums are useless? They linked me to this: adorable baby!Simm.

Another question: which commentaries from season one of Doctor Who are worth listening to? [livejournal.com profile] jaydk and I just finished our S1 rewatch, and we thought we might try a couple of the commentaries before we move on to season two. However, we don't want to get stuck with a really lame one. So what's good? (And by "good" I mean "contains discussions of character development, story arcs, writing, and acting" and "does NOT contain endless rambling about how they did the special effects or how cold it was on set that day.")

24 Hour Party People is fantastic, but it isn't terribly big on the Simm.

24 Hour Party People is an interesting view, but not if you're viewing it only for The Simmness - his role is quite small.

The Lakes is fun for very young Simm!

Human Traffic is dark, but good.

I still have to see Crime and Punishment.

I *adored* State of Play - well written, everyone in it was so good.

My vote is for The Lakes. Need I remind you of the clip? Also, even though it's a soap opera and I normally *hate* soap operas, he's just so outsider-calling-everyone-on-their-shit and scrappy-sexy-gorgeous-tortured.

That John Simm phone ad is great, but it's strange to see him with so much hair.

24 Hour Party People is great if you're a fan of vintage rock, as I am.

Another rec for 24 Hr Party People. Not a lot of J.Simm, but a good film nevertheless.
