My choices are a bit limited because I don't drive. Ideally I'd like to stay in a hotel right on the beach (it's okay if it's one of those old crumbly ones if that makes it cheaper) that has both a pool and a pool bar. (Because there is nothing better than sprawling on the beach with a good book and a tropical drink).
The other thing is that I get bored with too much lazing about, so I'd love if there's a metropolitan area nearby to which I can walk or take a taxi and then wander around on foot. (Ideally to find stuff like museums and boardwalks and vegan-friendly restaurants.)
Right now I'm looking at Ft Lauderdale although that does seem likely to be spring break central. But it does seem to have areas you can walk around, hotels on the beach, and isn't a huge cab fare from the airport....
