Everyone's doing this meme. I don't usually post these, because I think "everyone's going to think I'm selfish and hate me for posting this," even though I never think that about anyone else who posts these.

But anyway, I really enjoyed reading the responses in other people's journals. It's neat and interesting how people in fandom are so interconnected. So, I'll post this anyway:

1. How did you first hear of/meet me?

2. Where and when did you first hear my name/see my work/meet me?

3. With what people/series/groups etc. do you associate me and/or my writing?

NOTE: This is not a praise or feedback meme, this is just to track the path of my online presence and to see the connections involved, to find out how people link together.

(Just ignore the whole "writing" part, since I don't write.)

Also, I just looked at my entry from last night, and man, I really shouldn't be allowed to post after 3am.

1. I first heard of you when you emailed me back in the summer of...2002? FF.net had kicked all NC-17 off its site, I was away from home and I think I might have been between apartments and jobs as well. And I asked if anyone would be willing to host Modus, which was still only partly finished. I forget how I even asked, since I didn't have LJ at the time. But you emailed and offered All About Spike, and saved my bacon. For the first time.

Actually, I think you'd sent me feedback on Modus when I was posting it in chunks on FF.net, but since I didn't really know who the heck you were at the time, that don't count.

2. Uh, I think this is asking the same thing, isn't it? Or is it asking about meeting in person? We haven't done that, so...

3. I associate [livejournal.com profile] drinkthepoisonx with the good stuff. The good fic, all in one place, elegantly organized and easy to use. Professional archiving, for free. In short, da bomb. It's hard to say who I associate you with, specifically, because you're so tied in with so many writers for me. M'Sally, Rahirah, Peasant, Herself, Chase, Anna S.... You know. The BNFs. Heh.

And, just a side note: you asked in a comment recently about archiving some of those stories I keep forgetting to revise. Ahem. I'm sorry, life's been crazy and of course will continue to be. But I'll try to get it done soon, and will let you know when I have. And yes, I'm still very interested in having stories on AAS. There is no more rocking archive on the Net.

Oh, I remember! I sent you lame one-line feedback for Modus when you first started posting it, and you emailed me back right away with a whole reply. And I thought "Why in the world is this writer emailing me in response to my pathetic one-line of feedback?" But it kept the story in my mind, so that I continued to look for it and read it, and eventually totally fell in love with it.

And it is so cool that I was able to archive it. It was great to be able to help you out, and it gave me the push I needed to make the site better--reviews, email updates, etc. And helped me get over my weird hesitancy to read slash.

I'm so glad you came to LJ. So many ultra-talented people tend to be kind of caught up in their own mythos, but you always astound me with how kind and thoughtful you are toward others. I honestly can't remember you saying something unkind about anyone. Plus, you always have something interesting to say, and you say everything so well.

Uh, I think this is asking the same thing, isn't it? Or is it asking about meeting in person? We haven't done that, so...

It is phrased weirdly, isn't it? Ah, well, I didn't write the meme.

Oh yeah--have you thought about coming to Writercon? It would be so cool to meet you.

I so don't deserve to be compared to those immensely talented people. But thank you for saying it. ;)

The secret for an untalented person to meet all the BNFs: start an archive.

you asked in a comment recently about archiving some of those stories I keep forgetting to revise. Ahem. I'm sorry, life's been crazy and of course will continue to be

Don't apologize! I understand that you're busy. I just wanted to check, not make you feel guilty or anything. Please don't stress over it. Though of course I'll be delighted to archive when/if you get something together.

Heee! I responded with glee to your feeding of Modus, because I was so happy to be fed at all! And because I had, and have, no shame.

WriterCon no es posible this year, I'm afraid. Wish I could. Might be in NYC sometime late summer, though. And would love to meet if that works out.

Aww. Too bad that you won't make it to Writercon.

I hope the NYC thing works out. It would be very cool to see you.
