I guess the good thing about it is the way Jack is, as an omnisexual man - he's in charge of a team, not the least bit screwed up about his sexuality, and never in any danger of dying a tragic and permanent death.
Yeah, that's what I mean: he's omnisexual but the show isn't about what an Issue his sexuality is. Plus he's a badass action hero, not a stereotype. And they treat sexuality in general as fluid, which is cool. (Yay bisexuality!)
I just, y'know, hate everything else, from the bad writing, shoddy characterization, and terrible acting to the concept of Torchwood itself: lack of government oversight, contempt for civil liberties, reliance on torture, and shoot-first-and-questions-never attitude. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Me too. I guess you can't fight every battle at once, and getting the general public used to boy-kissing is a worthy aim, even if the boys are morally compromised in ways not to do with the kissing.
The attitude towards sexuality is seriously the ONLY thing I like about Torchwood. Why oh why can't this be a better show?!?
I've been in fandom so long that it seems only natural--of course Jack and Ianto are kissing--and it takes me a while to realize, oh yeah, that doesn't usually happen in canon. I was really startled the other day when I realized that Spike and Angel had never actually made out on the show.
Nah, it's totally your extremely thorough and insightful meta analysis of every nanosecond of the kiss. ;)
I just watched the actual scene, and dude, it's only like 30 seconds. I love how the fannish squee amplifies it times a billion. I think I'd like this show so much better if I didn't actually watch it, but just read my FL's reactions instead.

I did not rewind and watch it six times, either. I didn't. ;-)

But. Pretty boys kissing! Not fair! I should not actually be *excited* and *happy* about the prospect of watching a show this vile.
