I do not get Tumblr, you guys. I am struggling with basic things like:

* Finding the permalink to a post
* Figuring out the date something was posted
* Finding an archive of messages that have been sent to me–they disappear after I reply??

I work in online & am extremely technologically adept–the website just sucks. How is it so popular??

On your dashboard, hover the cursor over the top right corner of a post. You should see something that looks like folding down the corner of a page. Click that and voila, permalink.

You're not alone. I don't get it at all, and I'm constantly frustrated by it, even though I use it a lot. And that's the same way everyone I know feels. It's one of the most badly built media I've ever come across.

I wish Dreamwidth would hurry up on their photo hosting and mobile support so they'd have a chance at competing. This place is so much better and I'd hate to see it become a ghost town in favor of something as hideous as tumblr.

Yeah, Tumblr is just something I haven't gotten into either. Mostly I hate the blue dashboard. Apparently there are greasemonkey scripts to change it, but it shouldn't be that difficult.

there is something called missing e that helps with a lot of this frustration, AND, you can bookmark stuff. not much help on the phone, but in a browser it works. yeah. messages disappear. sucks.
