In other news, I went to a big brunch on Sunday. drujan and I were discussing the recent Harry Potter wank, and slowly the entire table (7 non-fandom people) fell silent and gaped at us with mouths open as we explained the thing. It really is boggling.

But yeah, basically one person pretended to be many (both her own fans and worshippers, and also various vicious trolls who attacked her with racist and homophobic insults). And the goal of it all was to become popular in Harry Potter fandom and make friends with the well-known "Big Name Fans."

It's basically like a study of individual and group psychology in the internet age.

Who has that much time on their hands? How could she keep track of everything? How does she still have LJ friends? Is there someone with a very large net and a tranq gun looking for her right now?
