I am soooo glad I don't live in/around a major metro area. I am on the same area grid, but it didn't zap us down in Kentucky. I live in a nice little subdivision, so if the power had gone, I would have popped by my parents who live a couple of miles away, to grab my 5500 watt generator and their window a/c unit. Then pour in some of my 30 gallons of emergency reserve gasoline. Then me and my parents could have been unsufferably smug, sitting in the a/c occasionally switching to the fridge to keep it cool. Sigh. No big adventure for me. =( My new phrase is: Be Prepared, that way it'll happen to someone else. =)
