I thought you wanted to save money to get your own place. If you have to live with a roommate who you don't know, why not do it there where you can save money? You might actually find the roommate pool widens if you are in a more affordable place. Not only that, but I thought you said that all your friends were in Brooklyn, so it wouldn't be a bad place to go.
