Hee. I like the new layout, but I gotta agree that the pastal colours are kinda lame :P
On the self-indulgence, I feel the same way. I often get the sense that it's foolish and spammy and irritatingly self-indulgent. Which is why I actually actually do go back and delete stuff So I understand how you feel, I've just responded to my annoying inner voice by overkill with the posting :).
I think I do my part by finding stuff for my website, where hopefully lots of other people will read it and then do the talking about it for me.
