Wait, I see ... part one, two, three ... where's four? Is it finished? (I'll read it anyway, of course, just wondering.)
That's right, you're moving. Vegan food! Good! Early December should work.
Oh, okay, this is funny, and probably a topic we should avoid if drujan comes over, but I have to tell you because you'll understand how flummoxed I was. (drujan, don't read this!)
Anyway, so this weekend drujan came over and we watched "Sharpe's Company." We'd watched "Sharpe's Eagle" already, and she was all on board with how awesome Teresa is.
And then there's that scene in "Company" where Teresa kills the Frenchman who's enamored with her, remember that? And instantlydrujan despises her, hates her, wishes her dead, and spits on her grave. "She's evil."
Umm... okay. I did point out that the French raped her and killed her family, that they are invading her country, that she's trapped in Badajoz because the French have taken it from the Spanish, that she's fighting people who are killing her people and destroying her country ... and that even if you do have a problem with her killing a guy, doesn't that just make her even cooler because she's a grey character? Like, Sharpe does morally questionable things all the time, and don't tell me Spike didn't, but we still love them.
Um, so I ended up complaining that she always hates strong, morally ambiguous women (she hates Danaerys Targaryen too!), and she responded with some kind of metaphor about how if I like Teresa, I support American soldiers killing innocent Iraqi civilians, because there's no moral difference between that and Teresa killing the French guy....
