Hey, it's a meme!

"Part of being on Livejournal.com is inevitably gaining a number of LJ buddies. Unfortunately, as time wears on, it's easy to forget where all of them came from. Post this in your journal and have your friends respond with how they recall first 'meeting' you."

Normally I don't do these, but I am dying of boredom at work today. Dying, I tell you. A week of fun in Vegas just makes sitting in an office for eight hours about a million times more dull that it already would have been....

So, entertain me. How did we meet?

Ooh! Ooh! Let me be the first to say "You asked to archive a story and I was terribly flattered." I think you're going to get that answer a lot. ;)

Oh. Well, yeah, there's that. I'm sure I met *some* people in other ways, though...

I remember I always enjoyed your posts on BAPS and Tabula Rasa. And you really came to my attention when you posted that *awesome* gender essay that totally captured why Buffy's behavior in S6 was unnacceptable.

Heh! Well, I knew *of* you before that, but I first met you at the LJ brunch so graciously organized by [livejournal.com profile] _flaming_june_ and then I guess later that summer, you and [livejournal.com profile] jaydk and I got together to watch some Sharpe (which we should plan on doing again before she goes back to Evil Law School, yes?)

Your site put you on my radar. I'm not sure when you noticed me, so let's just say "Vegas, baybee!" ;)

Hee, cool. Vegas rocked.

Oh, and there's also the fact that I archived two of your stories before Vegas, so you were on my radar as a fic writer for a while....

Sorry work is so boring - so, I'll bite :)

We met because I found out you run 'All About Spike' and it is *such* a great site, I wanted to get to know you better :)

I knew of 'All About Spike' but don't remember talking to you until we went out to dinner in Tampa. I had been intimidated by you, and I thought you didn't like my work because you hadn't asked to archive anything - but you said I was wrong and you liked my writing, and I got all 'squee-y'.

Naw, I was just intimidated by the fact that you've written several billion stories and how in the world could I possibly sort through them all...?

I'm glad I spoke up; I'd hate for you to think that I didn't like your work. Your fic is actually the first good fic I ever read, waaaay back in the day on BAPS/SS/The Gutter. So really, in an indirect way, you're totally responsible for the existence of All About Spike....

You mean, you forgot?? Aaah, I'm hurt. (:P)

November 2002. Sent you an e-mail telling you that you were right about redemption and that your site rocked. We started talking, you asked if I wrote - back then, you had the time to go around asking *G*. The rest is history.

Awww, darling, of course I could never forget you. ;)

Hee, I totally remember your email. And in fact, I still have like five emails or LJ comments in my Inbox from you that I keep intending to reply to. Except now they're like a year old so that's probably not going to happen....

Really? *boggles* I wonder what kind of cracked out stuff have I written for you to save them *G*.

Don't worry about that, hon. Just don't disappear on me - 'cause, you know, I'd miss you. :)

I hope work improves.

My first con was Shore Leave. I must have seen you then, but I also remember seeing you in photos here and there--particularly that one with JM. Then, at Tampa last year, you sort of were this quiet, beautiful person who I remember talking to Shauny about--you were wearing a hair extension that she asked you about. I was really surprised when you took a picture of me and Chris by the pool. But you know, I'm pretty sure we didn't really actually *meet/meet* until a Common Ro gig this past year, unless I've forgotten.

You seemed sort of enigmatic, and true to my warped self, I assumed that I'd never get to actually know you, since you seemed far too cool.

*smacks Tammy*

You're an awesome person; why wouldn't you expect to get to know me? Seriously, this low self-esteem thing just doesn't suit you....

I talked to Shauny in Tampa? Dammit, I totally don't remember this. But I remember you--you were one of those people I always saw around at cons, who was part of a similar group, but who I figured didn't like me because you never talked to me. :P

And I remember seeing you at DragonCon, and Danny pointing at you from across the room... LOL....

I can't remember when we actually officially met. It was like one of those "I've seen you around forever, and I know people who know you, so we sort of already know each other" things. Where eventually we just started talking to each other instead of to other people that we both knew.

[livejournal.com profile] elizard100 introduced us at the Creation Con with Emma in Brooklyn - - - whenever that was. When was that, last year? Year before? I can't remember...

Oh, wow, that was a while ago. I totally can't remember now. More than a year ago; probably, like, a year and a half ago. Oh, I know! It must've been winter 2002/2003. Because it was freezing cold, and it was prior to the Cleveland Vulkon in April 2003.

I was prompted to look at your LJ by a comment from Wiseacress, related to vegetarianism. Then I realised you ran THE archive, and was hooked.

Awesome.

LOL, I'd have no internet presence whatsoever if it wasn't for [livejournal.com profile] witling ... getting me into slash, letting me archive Modus Vivendi, pimping my site and journal in her LJ.... it's all her fault. ;)

We met for the first time at Cleveland Vulkon in 2003. We were actually introduced to each other by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] elizard100. Since then we have met up at several different cons. I have a habit of taking really good pictures of you (if I do say so myself).

I had previously been to All About Spike but was not really familiar with you as the owner of the site. I don't think we had actually "talked" anywhere online before that either, even though we were on a couple of the same lists.

So, yeah, Cleveland.

Oh how I wish that were true! I haven't been able to go to even half of the cons that I wanted to go to this year. Nothing out of the country for me. Actually, nothing west of the Mississippi for me. :(

I'll see what I can do about sending you some of my pics. :)

Hmm. You left a review at ff.net about my first story, Aftermath--two whole years ago! Two or three months later I stumbled across All About Spike, but didn't realize it was your archive; I was just excited to find such a high-quality Spike fic collection, although it was still pretty small at the time. I remember on my first visit I read Moose's "The Doublemeat Experience," which had the best Spike voice I'd read in quite awhile.

I was so impressed by the site I ran right over to TWoP and recced it. I didn't realize you were the same person who reviewed Aftermath until you asked if you could archive it and Bag of Bones.

I've really enjoyed getting to know you on LJ. Although sometimes I have to fight my impulse to say, Forget the Sirius fic! Draco fic's the good stuff!

:late replier:

It's been a long time. I was pretty new to livejournal, and I was figuring out memories. I have no idea whose memories I was in, but they linked me to a post of yours where you talked about Spike, and your thoughts about what the show had done with the character.

I couldn't help it, I had to friend you. I think/hope I commented in that entry to tell you that, but I may not have.
