voter registration card

For bloodypoetry: Normally, no one asks to see your voter registration card if you are voting in the same precinct you have before. They might ask for ID, and you do sign in, of course. However, after the problems last year in Florida, Chicago, and elsewhere, it wouldn't hurt to have it with you. Your local Registrar of Voters could issue you a new one (check online, searching Registrar of Voters plus name of your city/county). Due to legitimate questions about recount issues with computerized voting, you might want to vote absentee, but you need to apply in advance to do that. You SHOULD receive a sample ballot in the mail (all registered voters get one) before the election, and there is a form to send away for an absentee ballot on the back of that. But I'd check with the Registrar ASAP, anyway, if I were you. (Sorry--history and government teacher here!)
