Dean/Castiel is the hottest thing EVER. Or... the hottest thing I'm thinking of right at this moment. Whatever, same difference.
The conflict between the brothers in late S4 was so well-written. I could understand and sympathize with where they were both coming from and why. Neither was 100% right or 100% wrong, both had some good reasons and some blind spots. Both had positions that came from the core of who they are as characters. That's damn good writing.
I loved the whole thing about Sam being more like John than Dean could ever be. I'm going to be thinking about that when I rewatch the series.

netweight was saying, the way this show tackles the ends vs means question is so interesting. I like it much better than Torchwood or AtS, though I'm going to have to do more thinking to figure out why. I think it has something to do with it resisting the tendency to fetishize its heroes' pain over their ability to do "the difficult things that are necessary" (hurting innocents for the greater good). Instead this show always questions whether that's right, doesn't give easy answers, and keeps the focus on the innocent people being hurt instead of on the righteous manpain the heroes feel for hurting them.
I can't believe this show acknowledged in canon its fandom's fondness for incest porn. I'm sure people were pissed off, but I thought it was adorable.
I fully admit I am ignoring a ton of flaws to focus on what's good about the show.
I only have 21 episodes left and I'll be all caught up. I'm kind of sad about this. I'm going to miss having seemingly endless amounts of new-to-me canon!
...And now on to season five.
