Long time, no see

I’ve had almost no time for DW/LJ (*SOB* I MISS YOU GUYS) but things I have managed to see that were worth sharing:

* New ASOIAF HBO preview!! I don’t really think I’m going to like the series all that much, but it’s still so amazing to see actual visuals of a world that’s existed only in our imaginations for so many years. I guess this is how the oldschool LotR fans felt?

* Kalichan wrote a lovely and thoughtful post about loving things that fail.

I want to catch up with everyone but even if I do, my reading lists will hit skip=1000 before I see everyones’ posts, so if anything really important happened, please let me know?

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

* I worked insane amounts of hours. Insane.

* I hosted a vegan Thanksgiving (it was fun) and saw Harry Potter in IMAX twice (loved it nearly as much as Prisoner of Azkaban, which is still my #1 favorite).

* Watched the original version of The Empire Strikes Back on DVD on my giant HDTV. It looked so beautiful! This is the first time I've seen it in at least two years, and the first time I've ever seen it in high quality widescreen without Lucas' stupid mutilations.

Then found out that Irvin Kershner just passed away. So sad. The world would've been a better place if he'd directed all the Star Wars sequels.

* Been sick for a month and a half. Every time I get better, I get another cold. Stupid exhaustion and stress.

* I bought a new phone. Depressingly, this is because my beloved G1 was struggling to handle my work email. The new phone is a G2 so hopefully it will preserve the aspects I adored about the G1 while being faster and sleeker and bigger. Also it was on sale at Amazon for $49, woohoo!

* Did I mention all the working? My cats are in revolt. Lucifer tried to climb up my back while I was on a conference call tonight.

* I've run out of Supernatural podfic for my commute and haven't had time to download more, so I'm listening to my favorites over and over. Yay The Incestuous Courtship of the Antichrist's Bride and Blind Spot and Open Your Eyes and We Walk The Same Line. I need to go leave feedback for the authors and readers that I haven't commented to yet. THE DAY NEEDS MORE HOURS.

* Oh yeah, that SPN episode! With David Bowie and an X-Files tribute! I can't even remember if I posted about it. I loved it very much.

* Holy fuck Christmas and Christmas presents and travel plans and OMG NO TIME WHAT DO I DO?

* Every time I start to freak out about all the stress and work and life changes, I remind myself that Dean Winchester is so incredibly pretty, and I feel a bit better.

I... may actually have to watch that? I could never turn down either of those things.

It's weird about Christmas stuff and the arrival of December; 3.5 weeks isn't really enough time to get all my shit together, and yet I also have to work, so it also feels like an eternity in that context.

The preview of ASOIAF is so pretty! There's obviously no way it can match the books in sheer scope and awesomeness, but I think I'll enjoy it as a derivative work giving us visuals. :)

The Bowie and the X-Files were the best parts! The Bowie made me think of you. Next time we get together we should watch that one. :)
