I adore this entry by liviapenn, particularly the first point, in which she defends fanfiction as "real art." I try to explain this to people and they tend to look at me funny; perhaps I'll refer them to her entry in the future.

In other news, I'm at work and I'm bored. I'm looking forward to the Cleveland convention this weekend. I dyed my hair even more blond last night; I can't figure out if it looks goofy or cool. Last week, I chose my classes for next semester; I'm taking "Film Genres: Children and Other Talking Animals," "Sexual Diversity in Society," "Queer Literature," and "Literary Interpretation." (My concentration is "gender and popular culture"). Next semester will be my senior year; I cannot wait to graduate.

Waaaaah ... I want keep procrastinating, but I really should go work now.

Wow. I remember the deep, dark black from Shore Leave. Will I recognize you? Are you going to Chicago, or Cleveland/Tampa only?

I'm going to be at Cleveland, Tampa, Moonlight Rising, and DragonCon. Will you be at any of those? I wish I was going to Chicago, but, um, I'm already insane enough to be going to four.

I've decided that life is short, and I may as well try as many haircolors as possible before I die. So, currently, blonde. It's naturally brown, and it's been natural red, bright red, purple, blue and purple, and black. Dark colors suit me better (and are definitely more in tune with my state of mind!) but blonde should be fun for a short while.

Come to DragonCon. All the cool kids are doing it. :-) Seriously though. If you make it to DragonCon I personally guarantee that you will have a hootin of a nanny of a time.

And Laura, you should make it a life goal to have your hair as many colours as possible, maybe even at the same time. Now that's entertainment. I hope you've started practicing looking hungry for at Cleveland this weekend cause I'm getting the definite impression that it is not going to be veggie friendly. What do you expect though? People equate meat with value for money. Oh and MJ contacted some local restaurants to see what they had for vegetarians and they said that they had lots of vegetarian options - chicken for one because don't all vegetarians eat chicken? I'm not a chickenarian, I'm a vegetarian.

Them: "So if you don't eat meat, what *do* you eat?"
Me: "Everything else."


I recently took one of those Quizilla quizzes to tell me my deepest darkest secret and it turns out I'm secretly a cannibal (although not so much of a secret now that I've spilled the beans I guess). It was so secret in fact that I was unaware of this. So I'm resolved to accept this deep dark inner secret me and embrace my inner cannibal (from within me it devours) and start eating people. But I still want to stick to my vegetarian beliefs so as a compromise I've decided to only eat people with vegetable names, like Orson Bean, Carrot Top and Cubby Broccoli. Beyond those three I'm not so sure who I can eat but I'm open to suggestions. :-)

Is it time to go to Cleveland yet? I'm in such a good mood. I'm wearing my happy pants.

LOL! I'd *love* to hoot some nannies. It's just too far out and a holiday. My own two darling kids might object, as might Mr. Goat. I'm going to have to wait and see... But I'm hoping, cause that guest list of writers is just AMAZING!!!!!!

I've been thinking about the food thing. I'm really uncomfortable trying to get other places to accomodate me, for several reasons. First, going vegan was my choice; they are not obligated to accomodate my unusual diet. Second, I get very uncomfortable when people fuss over me; I hate to inconvenience others. Third, I do not trust someone who does not understand and respect veganism to serve food to me; I am very, very uncomfortable eating in non-vegan restaurants. I can't tell you how many times I've been served non-vegan food because they "forgot" or "didn't realize" (and often, it's clear that they simply did not care).

So anyway, instead I'm heading to the grocery store the night before and filling every extra space left in my suitcase with snacks. Dried fruit, nuts, chips, cereal, crackers, cookies, pastries, bread, whatever else looks good. Plus, I suspect that we'll have a hot water source in the hotel (probably a coffee maker), so I can bring anything that just requires hot water: those little "cup of soups," noodle mixes that you just add hot water to, etc.

Not the greatest fun in the world, but it's only three days. I'll come home and make up for it by ordering from Angelica's Kitchen, Cafe Viva, Kate's Corner, the Organic Grill, Madras Cafe, Vegetarian's Paradise, etc, etc, etc for the next week. :)

Heh, I had no idea that there was an entire website devoted to the evilness of cats. Very cute; thank you for the link.

The icon, btw, is my cat Lucifer. He is indeed quite evil, but he makes up for it by being absolutely precious.
