Thanks for posting that, Laura.

I have to say, I'm all for a shanshu. I think that Spike's wonderful arc on BtVS was wrapped up very nicely.

I would hate to see him go to Angel the same character, you know? His vampire arc has been completed. It's time to move on to the next level (and in my optimum world get new clothes). :)

I'll be fine if that next level isn't a shanshu, in fact, I'm excited about alternatives. But I think it should be something very different to what he's had on Buffy.

Well, I hope he stays the same character, since Spike is the character I love. I don't mind characters changing and growing but turning human is a bit much. I like my vampires, y'know, vampires.

To me, human isn't the next level, and I hate the way the Buffyverse idealizes humanity and normality. Spike's fine the way he is; if anything, humanity would be a regression.

I'm still in 'trust Joss' mode, and I know many are not. That said, however, I've come up with at least 5 plausible ways to bring Spike back without a shanshu. And for the record, I took the 'drowning in footwear' *not* to shanshu, but to the way he died (soul consumed him) and to the shoe reference elsewhere from Buffy.

*g*

Oh, I thought that about the shoe line too! But then I decided I was being over-optimistic and blinded by my hate of the word "shanshu," lol.

Here's hoping Joss chooses one of the non-shanshu ways of bringing Spike back.

I took the "drowning in footwear" line to mean that Spike was going to end up at the mall. Literally. As in he gets made one with the crushed remains of the rest of Sunnydale. Given the Glorification of Normality on the show (which nauseates me), maybe Joss's idea of heaven is the mall, and drowning in footwear is an appropriate afterlife for a champion. Surrounded by stylish yet affordable boots. Would explain why Buffy was so unhappy about being brought back to life.

I know! Thank god indeed... Now I have something to hope for... Probably shouldn't. Die hope, die.

Hey! You have a livejournal! Cool. :)

Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up about this. But at least we know humanity isn't inevitable.

Yep, I have LJ as of yesterday although I don't really have anything in it, yet.

At least now, when humanity is not a forgone conclusion, it's easier to imagine alternate scenarios of what's happening to our boy in the interim... Until the fall, when we know for certain. *whimper*
