Nan Dibble sent me the first few chapters of her new story, "Enemy of My Enemy," which is the sequel to her wonderful "Old Blood." Post-Showtime, Rated R, Spike/Buffy, Spike/Dawn friendship, WIP. Check it out.

Also, I scanned in the S/X card that I had JM sign. It looks really weird because it's a hologram kinda thing that changes in the light. The back has some stupid copy about how much S7 Xander hates and despises Spike, but the photo just exudes sexual tension, and I couldn't resist buying it. I don't have an OTP, but if I did, it would be S/X.



Also, devilpiglet and wiseacress, I love both of you.

Yeah, nothing says "S7 Xander hates Spike" like a pic from season 5. I'd write a huge, long rant about ME and how their heads have been sewn on backwards, but have decided they can't help themselves. I'm just going to smile and nod and not listen to them any more.

Well, in defense of ME, I don't think they have much control over the crap that gets produced in the name of BtVS. Didn't Joss say something like "there could be a Buffy novel in which Buffy decides that abortion is wrooong, and I would never know about it"? And if you read the novelization of season seven, not only is the interpretation outrageous, but there are missing scenes, events out of order, and multiple typos on every single page.

I'm happy to blame ME for a lot, but I doubt that this one is their fault.

Not listening to them, though, sounds like a wonderful idea.

By blaming ME I meant blaming 'generic BtVS creators/writers/PTB/anyone vaguely official who gives interviews and is taken more seriously than those who just watch the show and have two brain cells to rub together'.

I have terrible trouble following any detailed analysis of the BtVS world because the show is so swathed in contradictions that it's hard to sustain a coherent theory through one episode, let alone seven seasons. Sometimes I wonder if I love BtVS so much because it is so profoundly flawed ... but that would be like loving Evil Serial Killer Rapist Spike and make me too interestingly grey. Meow.

(I also hated Chosen. And I'm in Australia, so had to DL the episode to watch it because we only just aired Lies, so maybe it's not entirely fair to hate an episode when I've seen it out of sequence and am relying on transcripts to fill in the gaps ... but I hated it anyway.)
