I did it! I dropped the class that was terrifying me (what with the 15 page paper and many novels and journal entries and half hour oral presentation). I've never dropped a class before, but I have AP credits from high school, so I figured, why not use them? That's what they're for, right? No reason to feel guilty; I worked harder in high school so I could have an easier time in the future. Well, it's my senior year of college, so the future is now. Yay! (I'm very relieved; can you tell?) I'm still taking three classes, but they're all much less terrifying than this one was.
Also, I got my DragonCon photos back; there are some great ones! I'll try to scan them this weekend if I have time.
Finally, I picked up the Spike/Angel TV Guide today. I like the article and the focus on Spike, as well as the inside photos, but what the hell is up with that cover photo? It looks like the Pillsbury Doughboy and an 80-year-old man. Seriously; I dunno about Boreanaz, but Marsters looks a lot better than that in RL. How did they manage to make him look worse? And why did they put it on the cover?
Ah well ... bad cover is better than no cover, right?
Oh, and am I the only one who likes the new LJ style? Much cleaner and more attractive.
Now, back to work....

Date: 2003-09-05 05:11 pm (UTC)I don't know why the tv guide cover is so horrible, but mr. muse didn't even recognize Boreanaz and said that Marsters looks about his vampire age. Oy. Too much makeup.

Date: 2003-09-05 05:19 pm (UTC)Then I got to senior year and had to choose between taking marketing classes I wanted versus physics classes I needed and already had the credits for.
Consumer behavior was a joy.

I gotta agree, though - really not flattering at all. What the heck kind of expression were they trying to get DB to make? I've never seen either one of them in person, but I have seen candid shots of both from this summer and they looked fine in those. Shouldn't the folks at TV Guide be able to take *better* pictures than Random Fan with a cheap camera?
And congrats on dropping the class. No sense torturing yourself if you don't have to.

And, sorry, I like the picture of JM on the TV Guide cover ;)

Date: 2003-09-05 05:31 pm (UTC)Totally agreed on the cover, btw. I have absolutely *no* idea how the hell TV Guide pulled that off, but it's terrible. The inside shots were much better. But still, like you said -- bad cover's better than no cover. Go, ATS! :)

Date: 2003-09-05 05:32 pm (UTC)and i agree, jm was shot with VERY unflattering light or something for that cover. it makes him look ancient. then again, maybe db was the one who got the final say on the cover, lol.

Date: 2003-09-05 05:51 pm (UTC)And on the pic, I thought they were bad, then I saw the Ep 2 ones in the French site. DB looks like he's got an obscure skin disease and JM looks like they changed the Spike forehead from a BTVS one to an ATS model, the change not being for the better.

Date: 2003-09-05 06:08 pm (UTC)i, too, am digging the new style. i noticed it last night and got all excited (yes... i have no life).
those ugly stripes are gone! yay! i'm liking the blue. but the terms of service stuff at the bottom kinda looks clumsy... like it was added as an afterthought. but i'm just being nitpicky.

I swear it looks like they couldn't actually get DB and JM and had to use wax statues of them instead.

You know the funny part? I finally got a paid account yesterday and the next time I logged in it came up with the new style... I just assumed it was because I'd given them money. :-p

Date: 2003-09-05 07:55 pm (UTC)Cover: horrid, but you're correct - any publicity is good publicity!
New LJ format: I like it too! I find it nice and clean. And also, they cleaned up/added to LJ's sitemap, so I went over there and found some nifty stuff. I love the LiveJournal Portal - you can add a post AND get some helpful info all at the same time!

Date: 2003-09-06 10:42 pm (UTC)Plea for assistance
Date: 2003-09-07 10:09 am (UTC)I know that the you are the most uber busy person on
the face of the earth, but I need to ask you to help
me with something.
I have the worst web page on the face of the earth at
http://www.willingslave.com. It's hosted on Geocities,
and I created it using their web page builder, which
is awful. I get complaints from people that they can't
read it properly in Netscape, and it's, well it's hard
to read and just plain fugly.
The majority of my fic is up at your site, and that's
where I always go to read it myself, if I'm
contemplating picking up a WIP. It's easy on the eyes,
simple and clean. I want to take my site off of
Geocities and host it on webspace that I've been
paying for for over a year. However, I don't have a
clue what the hell to do. I've tried using Dreamweaver
and then just learning HTML, but I just can't see to
figure this all out!
I want to post all of my fic on a nice, simple
website, with a splash graphic on the main page and
links to read each story or download a .txt or .doc
file if they wish. I'm not particularly prolific, so
it wouldn't need to be updated often.
I'd be wiling to pay you for your time to design and
launch a page for my fiction. If you haven't the time
or interest, but have a Buffy friend who had the
skills to do this, I'd love for you to get them in
touch with me.
I hope this proposition out of the blue isn't too
forward. I appreciate the support and friendship
you've shown for me personally as well as my fiction.
I enjoy the aesthetic sense you've brought to
allaboutspike.com, and I'd love to have something half
so classy for my own work.
If I can ever be of any assistance to you, please let
me know. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy
and appreciate All About Spike.
PS- Hope you had huge amounts of fun in Atlanta!
