Common Rotation announced their summer tour dates. They're coming back to New York at the end of July ... when I'm going to be at Writercon. Dammit.

So I'm thinking of maybe going to this show, because it looks like I could get a LIRR train from Penn Station:

Thursday, July 22nd
39th Annual Huntington Summer Arts Festival
Chapin Rainbow Stage
In Heckscher Park
Huntington, NY
8:00 PM
Free & All Ages

And then there's this:

Saturday, July 24th
Woodstock, NY
Colony Cafe
10:00pm
All Ages

If I could figure out how to get to Woodstock, I would go, since it's a Saturday.

Anyone else going to any of these?

I'm totally out of touch with fandom, which I feel guilty about. I was going to try to catch up on email and maybe read some fic last night, but I fell asleep instead. Life is just so much more pleasant when you're sleeping eight hours instead of four.

Roommate hunting continues. God, I hate this. I've only met one person so far who I'd be willing to live with, and he ended up not wanting it. (I've been interviewing men as well as women. I don't want to live with a male--I'd just feel uncomfortable--but I also don't want to have to pay next month's rent by myself.) And I can't do anything after work because I'm always running home right away to meet with these strange strangers who only bother to show up about half the time.

Random: here are some photos of my cats after moving into my apartment. My favorite is this one. These came right before the Moonlight Rising photos, so as you can see, I'm working toward scanning those all in.

And, um, also random: I bought a ticket to this. I can't believe I bought this, but I think I'm going to go. I've never been to London before. I'm going to be in debt for the rest of my life, but at least I'm going to have a fun Halloween. Anyone else going?

Sorry, I've been kinda overwhelmed with other stuffs; I heard from my sister; she found a place 2 blocks from her work. C'est la vie.

I'd love to see Common Rotation sometime... *checks*.. wow, they're actually coming to Minneapolis. *ponders*

Common Ro is *awesome*. Definitely go see them if you get the chance--you won't regret it.

Lucifer sleeping is absolutely adorable.

And you definitely have to come over to Chelsea for a few drinks while you're in town:)

Man, I wish I could help with the apartment thing. If you did a time-share, I'd buy some weekends!!!! Please let me know if you need help for next month, though...

I was trying to figure out which concerts to do. I thought the one the 23rd looked good, as well, and was thinking you all should call in sick that day. Then we can even do both. I'll drive down and pick you guys up in Brewster or something--whatever gets you north enough on Metro North or whichever line that is could be cool.

Hmmm... sick day. I hadn't thought of that. I always feel guilty about taking sick days even when I am sick, but then again, my annoying coworker takes them every other week, so I think I'm entitled to one frivolous sick day....

Thank you for the offer to drive! I don't know upstate NY well at all, but I'm sure we can figure out a train and a station and work it out.

Which was the other show that you were planning to attend?

I can't believe Common Ro's return to NY coincides with WriterCon.

I haven't been upstate in years, but we'll wing it! I actually know how to read a map. heh. I had been looking at the folk festival the day before the Woodstock show, because I thought it could be really fun and/or bizarre. It's last day of class, but it may be the final, so I think I could get out of that. Either way, I know I could make the Woodstock for sure!

I can't believe Common Ro's return to NY coincides with WriterCon.

This was my thought exactly. It'll be like another party we missed out on, because I just know Fangirl will go. I might feel better if Soulmate gets her ass out to Vegas, tho...

Neat. We're going to have to figure this all out and see who's going to what and how we're going to get there, because I'm already confused.

Thursday, July 22nd, Huntington, NY, 8:00PM - Just me? LIRR?

Friday, July 23rd, Hillsdale, NY, 12:00PM - Whoever skips work? You drive?

Saturday July 24th, Woodstock, NY, 10:00pm - Everyone? Who drives?

Whatever happens, I'm looking forward to seeing them. :)

I know, it sucks that we'll miss them in NYC, but Writercon is going to *rock*. I hope we can talk Soulmate into going--I think she's trying to decide between Writercon and Dragoncon (duh! Writercon!)

I take it you're going to be there? Awesome.

I can't believe I'm going to London...

I'm glad I'll see you at another con this year. (We're still rooming together at Dragoncon too, right?) I still feel bad that I'm going to miss Toronto Trek, but since I'm roommate hunting now it's probably better than I'm not worrying about a con also.

We are a go for D*C (did you get your flights yet? I'm hoping to this week...) and now I get to see you in London too. I swear, this year gets better all the time...

Yay!

No flights yet but we're working on it.

Which days are you arriving/leaving? I think Jane and I are going to fly in Thursday night after work and then leave Monday evening. Does that sound right?

Yeah, that sounds good...I have to leave Monday morning, though, as rockgod jr starts Grade One the next day and I need to be home with him Labour Day for as much of the day as possible so we can get ready for the next day. So the flights I'm looking at get me into Atlanta at like 2:00 or something, and then out at like - gulp - 7:30 am...bleargh!

Just keep me posted on what'ch'all're doin'...(practicing my southern accent now...)

Thanks for the heads up about Halloween - I think Starfury have an event too, so they will be unchuffed!
Its expensive, but I'm already half-sold on it.

I want to go, I really do. The trouble is, I have a long-haul holiday booked for the week after, so it would mean flying to London for the weekend, back home to Jersey, then back to London the next week, which would be a bit much, what with organising stuff for the person looking after our pets while we are away. I may have to rely on you for the vicarious thrills.

Hm, there's a possibility I could go to the Hecksher Park one, but it's slim mainly because of the time (8 pm--kids go to bed then). We'll be on Long Island that weekend.

If you need some help with the apartment, I might know a few people who know people who are looking for an apt. to share, but I'd need relevant info (cost, location, contact info). E- me if you want me to put out the word.

I love when you post photos of your cats. I like the one of Angel lounging on what looks like a rubbermaid crate.

That Halloween event is very tempting. I've never been to a con, but that might be the first one for me.
