Hey, ummm...
anyone have recommendations for Queer as Folk fic with no spoilers for anything after the end of season two?
'Cause season three is in the mail, but it could take 5-10 days to get here. I need something to tide me over.
I'm looking for Brian-centric fic, either dark/angsty or funny, not soppily romantic. Pairing irrelevant (but I like Michael better than Justin). Length irrelevant. Rating irrelevant. Good characterization essential.
A rec for a good archive would also help. One that lists what episode the fic is set after, so that I don't get spoiled.
[And I still think the show sucks.]
Thanks in advance, if anyone answers. :)

Date: 2005-04-15 09:40 am (UTC)I think I have a bunch of reasons, mostly sort of visceral instinctive reactions (Justin reminds me of myself at that age--he needs to experience other relationships instead of focusing on his first; the deep friendship between Michael and Brian strikes a deep chord with me because I have major friendship issues; I tend to value friendships more than romantic relationships; etc).
I'm still thinking about it, though. And I've only seen the first two seasons, so my opinion could change.

Date: 2005-04-14 03:16 pm (UTC)Have you read that eeency thing that Herself wrote about Spike/Brian? It's not nearly long enough, but it's something.

Date: 2005-04-15 07:37 am (UTC)Julad's story is spoilery for Season Three, but I'm pretty sure Seperis's is not. The rest should have disclaimers.
The most comprehensive B/M archive is Always.
The most comprehensive general archive is probably Across the Pond.
Hope these help. To be honest, I don't think you'll find the wealth of good fic you so famously found for Spike--Brian seems harder for many authors to capture. I s'pose he's rather like Angel in that respect.

Date: 2005-04-15 11:08 am (UTC)I immediately went to Valerie, but all her stuff has spoilers. As soon as I catch up with the show, I will devour her fic. I remember her talking about B/J incessantly when the the show first came out. ;) Then I went to Rachel Anton and Mint Witch, because I love their Buffy fic, but again, spoilers!
I will check out the fics you recommended, and the archives. I really appreciate your input. :)
Yeah, I think we were incredibly lucky to have such a wealth of quality fic in Spike fandom. I haven't seen anything approaching that in any other fandom I've been into.
