Veronica Mars was so inane last night that it's not even the worth the effort it would take for me to comment on it.

But, okay, just one thing: The only reason I put up with half a season of soul-sucking Duncan/Veronica lameness was because I assumed it was a necessary lead-up to Veronica's realization that she doesn't want to be "normal," doesn't want to be an '09er, and doesn't want to be Duncan's pathetic little doormat of a girlfriend.

Without that realization, without any character growth whatsoever, the entire first half of the season was a complete and utter waste of time. At least in terms of Veronica's story arc.

If Logan and Weevil don't have some really hot violent sex very soon, I'm going to lose interest entirely. :P

In other news, I'm going to Boston this weekend for Vericon, a sci-fi con at Harvard which features George R. R. Martin as the guest of honor. Yay! [livejournal.com profile] 10zlaine is meeting me up there.

Boring life updates:

Last night I was doing laundry and suddenly my key stopped working. No matter what I did, I couldn't get my door to open--apparently something inside was out of sync. All I had were keys and laundry--I had to beg a neighbor to let me use her phone to call a locksmith. The locksmith came within 20 minutes and installed a new lock, which cost twice the amount of my round-trip plane ticket to Boston. *cries*

If it weren't for eBay, I'd probably be destitute on the street. I'm selling CDs, plus I spent last Sunday photographing and listing a ton of old Rolling Stone magazines. I've been saving these for ages (I have, like, 1995-2000), and they're taking up too much space in my apartment anyway.

My favorite coworker got engaged. I'm very excited for her--her girlfriend (fiance!) just returned from a month in China and surprised her with a beautiful jade ring. They're not getting married until her girlfriend finishes school (a year or two from now), but still, it's pretty exciting. Apparently we're all going to take a bus up to Canada for the wedding. I'm not really a fan of marriage in general, but if anyone should get married it's these two--they're the nicest and most drama-free people. And it was cool to see my coworker so happy yesterday. :)

I rearranged my bedroom over the weekend (moving heavy things by yourself is hard!). Then I had to rearrange it again, because the cats were unhappy (they had to take flying leaps to get to their window perch). It looks slightly less good this way, but their happiness is more important. And it's still nice--the whole room looks bigger and has more space the way I changed it. (And someday--theoretically--I may actually have people over to see it.) Well, when [livejournal.com profile] 10zlaine comes to visit, she'll have more space to sleep.

I also got frames for some of my posters, and hung them up properly. (Posters tacked to your wall with sticky tack are just so teenage, and I'm a grown-up now and all.) Alas, I'll never be a proper adult, though (and don't want to be): the posters are a Pig "Pigmata" poster, a KMFDM "WWIII" poster (signed by the whole band and Raymond, who drew his <PIG> logo), a signed Depeche Mode CD booklet (from when I met them), and a full page Village Voice ad advertising the "Meet Depeche Mode" event I went to to get the signature. I still need to get frames for my two Star Wars posters, but those are huge so I'm waiting until a more convenient time.

I've been listening to Pig again. I actually went something like three whole weeks listening to no Pig at all, because I was listening to Chemlab. Rediscovering Pig is a wonderful feeling. I've been listening to The Swining, and I'm just overwhelmed with how good that album is. I love the way he uses contrasts, louds and quiets, it's just so vivid. And god, I just adore the way he experiments with genre. His songs all have a certain consistency (his voice, his lyrical style, electronics and samples and heaviness), but they're also so incredibly diverse. I love that this one album, The Swining, has a gospel song (The Fountain of Miracles), a mambo (Black Mambo), a spoken-word piece (Ojo por Ojo), and epic multi-part symphony-style piece (Symphony for the Devil). Plus a bunch of excellent electronic rock songs. And his lyrics are so inventive and brilliant, too! It's amazing that one person can have this much talent.

Hey there! Just checking in under the wire from work to say thank you for posting the picture from Vegas a few days back. (I keep forgetting to comment directly in that post, and now I'm at work and don't want to log into LJ, but didn't want to keep forgetting.) It's great to see us all looking so Vegas-blitzed--if you have more, please feel free to send or post! Much appreciated.

See you soon, we hope.

SING IT.

Alas, no Logan/Weevil sex. L/W's last scene for a while is in the next ep.

Have you heard Pigmata yet?

It's fucking awsome, but I have to say that I still like Praise the Lard the best. Didn't know anyone on my lj liked Pig, so this is a shock to me!

Stuff I have got my hands on:

Praise the Lard
Swining/Red Raw and Sore
Sinsation
Painiac
Wrecked
Pigmata
Pigmatyr (signed, the original release of Pigmata as "WATTS")
Genuine American Monster
Disrupt Degrade and Devistate

I probally forgot something, got other stuff on mp3 only but thats only until I can get them on ebay.

www.theswining.com is his new offical site... umm.. yeah

Cool! I'm sure I must've friended you because of the Pig interest. ;)

I like Pigmata. It's better than GAM, and maybe better than A Poke in the Eye, but it's not as good as his other stuff. (Still, it's better than 99% of what's out there in general).

I adore "On the Slaughterfront," and I think a lot of the songs are good, but it's a bit too monotonous to compare to his more spectacular work.

My favorite is Praise the Lard, too. It's just unbeatably brilliant. Then follows The Swining, Sinsation, and Wrecked, in about that order. Have you heard Schaft? I'm very fond of that too, it's kind of like a Japanese version of Nihil and Sinsation.

I've spent the past year collecting rare Pig stuff. I have nearly everything with the PIG label on it (but not multiple versions of stuff released on different labels unless the music is actually different).

I'm missing some of the vinyl (Contempt, A Stroll in the Pork, Praise the Lard) and for some reason I still haven't obtained the Japanese Wrecked (I ordered it from Yoshi ages ago but never got it, and I keep missing it on eBay). I have no audio cassettes, and only two official videos: a promo VHS with the "Painiac" video on it, plus the Berlin Independence Days '88 video with "Shit for Brains." Oh, and the Schaft Switchblade video. Other than that I only have bootleg copies of Pig's various videos and live performances. (Did you see the original Schaft "Arbor Vitate" video? It's kind of cheesy and insane and awesome all at once.)

I've also got weird rare stuff like the Hit Parade and 2-Kut, plus a lot of the KMFDM stuff that Raymond is on. I only have a couple of Raymond's compilation appearances; there's probably same gaps there that I should be filling in. (Right now I only have MP3s of his various covers--Ministry, Pumpkins, NIN, etc.)

Did you see his MySpace page? I'm glad that he's still around, but man, I would kill for a tour...

I have the abor vitae video, got it from the watts site. I have the schwein album on mp3, keep trying to get it but miss it. Never heard schaft, but I keep meaning to.

I am missing mainly the singles and stroll, but I have most of the japan only stuff on mp3. Some of it is so hard to get.

The pride of my collection is my WATTS - Pigmatyr shirt, and the signed copy of the same album. Got a lot of KMFDM, but missing some of the older stuff. What did you think of Hau Ruk?

If I had more money I would grab all the stuff I don't have but being a student kinda sucks at the moment. Quoted some raymond lyrics while on teaching rounds, which was a highlight.

I have never heard anything pig played at a nightclub, only KMFDM stuff I have heard is JJJ and Star and Stripes. Kinda irritates me. Put a Pigmata poster up at Carmillas a while back, still got like 30 posters left (got them for promotion from metropolis).

Yeah his myspace is cool, I wish he came on the KMFDM 20th ann. tour. That would have ruled.

I think you added me because of Adam Riddle or Amanda W. Or I could be wrong.

Cool, you should definitely check out Schaft. I'll bet you will love them--at least, the Raymond songs! He wrote several of them and they are totally Pig influenced, some maybe ever a bit more raw than Pig. I'm really glad I discovered Schaft, I totally love them now.

I also totally recommend the Schaft live video. It's about 60 minutes, 40 of which feature Raymond as lead singer (and he plays guitar on some too). It's definitely the best live performance from him that I've ever seen on video! I've also found it once in a while on file sharing programs (you could keep soulseek open constantly with "schaft" on your wishlist, and it might eventually pop up--the title is in Japanese but the keyword "schaft" should find it). If you ever see it on eBay you might want to grab it, but it's rare and can be expensive. If you're interested I could maybe upload it somewhere for you, let me know. It really is wonderful--Raymond looks awesome and performs like a rock GOD.

I honestly haven't listened to Hau Ruck yet. i keep meaning to, but it's just... without Raymond, KMFDM isn't very interesting. Even En Esch had a bit of personality. Sascha and Lucia just don't do it for me.

Are you getting any bites on the RS mags? I have a whole box of them in the garage - and of course, mine are much older than yours. ;-) But I'm not planning to sell them any time soon - just wondered if there's an interest out there.

Sadly, they don't sell very well. I think the key is to list a ton and hope that there are bidding wars for one or two.

lol. the surface area on the bed's still the same. you mean pile my shit on your floor.

I'm swamped...I have a paper to write tonight. I'll try to call for a bit, but I think I'm going to go to class at least for the first half to pick up the handouts he's giving us, plus he's talking about our assignment due monday. IF I make decent time and don't get lost, I hope to be there by 7...which actually might suck; it'll be dark.
