Posting early since [info]jaydk is in Spain and I had to watch the episode alone. *sob*

Loved it. It was hilarious and Tennant looked even more gorgeous than usual.

Best part was the poisoning/charades scene. Tennant and Tate are perfect together with both comedy and drama. I kind of started shipping Doctor/Donna here.

Loved the canonical gay couple. More please.

Awesome shoutouts to Christie's stories and to Clue.

Didn't like Christie lecturing the Doctor about having fun. It's a lame way to distort a character by sticking a lesson into her mouth. Duh, it's possible to have fun and help for the right reasons. I never had a problem with "Tooth and Claw"; I thought it was a refreshing antidote to the usual angst you get in genre shows. ("Let's wring out as much drama as possible by having our characters moan constantly about how it's so difficult living an extraordinary life and seeing amazing things all the time." Part of what I love in Doctor Who is that the characters see the good side of the experience. And yes, this is my BtVS issues showing again.)

So apparently someone on the writing staff has been reading Doctor Who Forum and took the whiners to heart. Whatever, the Doctor continued to do what he always does, which is help people and enjoy the good parts of the experience. (And especially after last week, he needed something positive! Dude, if he wants to distract himself from his daughter's death by saving Agatha Christie from a giant bee, quit complaining and just be glad he's there.)

I loved the Doctor squeeing over the giant wasp (just like the werewolf) and being upset at its death. Nice that this show doesn't treat alien deaths as irrelevant. (Also a refreshing change from BtVS and AtS, where we'd see that demons had intelligence and emotions, but they'd still be dispatched by the heroes without a second thought.)

Donna kicked so much ass (and looked good doing it--her flapper outfit was awesome).

The jewel thief and giant wasp reverend were predictable if you've ever, y'know, read Christie, but that's cool since it's a tribute, and the giant wasp alien thing was a nifty twist.

The pacing was a little weird--they had to shove in a lot of characters and exposition into a very quick period of time. But it was fun and I loved the 1920s setting.

Looking forward to next week.
