Just a reminder about how to comment on this journal, since I keep getting questions.
Quick Summary:* Anyone can comment on public entries. No need to register.
* Register to comment on friends-only entries.
* When you first register, you won't be able to see friends-only entries right away. Just wait for me to approve you; it shouldn't be long.
Longer Version:
* I cross-post to LiveJournal, InsaneJournal, and Journalfen (all as rusty_halo) but only allow comments at rusty-halo.com. This is because I prefer to have all comments in one place, where I can back them up and never have to worry about my journal being censored.
Public Entries
* Anyone can comment on public entries. Go for it! Strangers are welcome, and I don't mind differences of opinion as long as you're polite.
* You don't have to register in order to comment on public entries, but you can if you want. The benefit is that it'll save your name/email address/website automatically.
* If you enter your website as yourname.livejournal.com or yourname.insanejournal.com or journalfen.net/users/yourname, your default userpic will show up. Nifty!
* I can see your email and IP address; no one else can. Search engines are blocked. You won't get spammed from posting here.
* You'll get emailed comment replies when someone responds to your comment, exactly as with LJ.
Locked Entries
* I post friendslocked and filtered entries. You won't know they exist unless you're on my friendslist already at one of the journaling services.
* To comment on a locked entry, you need to register. Please register with a name or email address that I recognize, or send me an email telling me your identity. Otherwise I won't know who you are.
* You can't see anything locked right after you register, because I have to friend you first. So, just wait a bit. If I'm online, I'll friend back right away; if not, it'll be a few hours. Don't get upset and think it didn't work; just wait. (It's exactly like LiveJournal: if you want to read someone's locked posts there, you have to register first, then you have to wait for them to friend you.) I've started sending notifications when I friend people who've registered, so they'll know that they can now see locked posts.
* If you're on my LJ/IJ/JF friends list, I'll absolutely friend you at rusty-halo.com. If you're on any filters, I'll add you to the same filters here. Everything matches up; no one has been locked out of commenting on stuff they can read. I had a couple people worry that I'd defriended them here, but it turned out they just needed to log in. Please don't have any hurt feelings; any errors are technical, not personal.
* If I have no idea who you are, I won't friend you back. For all I know, you could be my mom secretly trying to find out what I get up to online. :P So if you're not an LJ/IJ/JF friend, and you've registered to read locked entries here, um, why? Please friend me on a journaling service first so I can see who you are. (And if you don't have a journal and I don't know you in real life, to be honest, I probably won't friend you back. Sorry! But if you think I should make an exception, please send me an email explaining why.)
Sorry for the tl;dr. I just want to make sure no feelings are hurt by technical errors or misunderstandings.
If you're having any problems with commenting, make sure you're registered and logged in, and if it still doesn't work, send me an email at laura AT rusty-halo DOT com. :)
