Are you guys my "posse"?
Mar. 14th, 2008 01:56 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Whee, I'm a rape apologist who deserves to be flamed for not wanting to watch old black and white Doctor Who.
Also I sic my posse on anyone who dares to disagree with me.
Is it wrong that my response to this is to want to post lots and lots of meta about how bored I am by Old Who and about how Rose is made of awesome?
Also, if you guys are my posse, I order you to write Doctor/Master porn for me IMMEDIATELY.
*evil grin*

Date: 2008-03-14 06:54 pm (UTC)I mean seriously. Digging up meta from five years ago in a different fandom is PATHETIC. Turning a nuanced argument about how BtVS disempowers women into "OMG SHE LIKES RAPE" is also PATHETIC. It doesn't even deserve a response aside from LOLs at how low these people sink to avoid having to come up with coherent arguments.
PS: Common Rotation this weekend, yay! You're going to the one in MA, right?

Date: 2008-03-14 07:04 pm (UTC)(Hee, seriously! I'm pretty sure I have never flamed anyone in my life. And if I had a posse there'd be a lot more Doctor/Master pr0n here right now.)

How can we be friends? HOW? You HATE MARTHA! ::sob::
::snerk::

Date: 2008-03-14 07:52 pm (UTC)Maybe you could. ;)
I like that pairing very much in its fucked up way. And that chick who played Lucy Saxon was really hot.
How can we be friends? HOW? You HATE MARTHA! ::sob::
Oh no! It's an eternal rift that can never be overcome! *cries*
I... actually don't hate her. I just think she's boring and I'm sick of seeing Rose bashed to make her look better. I don't actually care that much. *shrugs*

who_anon is like the cesspool of fandom. I think a lot of people don't understand the difference between being silly and annonymous (which was I thought the original point of anon comms were) and using annonymity to be a dick.

Date: 2008-03-14 08:44 pm (UTC)LOL! I think that is a very sane reaction to the insanity in that comm. *shakes head*
Yeah, a Doctor Who anon comm? For the most bitter and miserable fandom ever? Who in the world thought that was a good idea? :(

Date: 2008-03-14 07:56 pm (UTC)Oh man, I'm sorry, but it's stuff like this that's the reason *why* the rape apologist thing has become funny.
Does that posse thing come with a card? A button?

Date: 2008-03-14 08:41 pm (UTC)The "rape apologist" thing is funny. Actual rape apologists are not funny, but when a bunch of feminist fangirls go around accusing other feminist fangirls of being rape apologists because they happened to like a different character in a different fandom five years ago? That is so wanky as to be hilarious.
Anyone who writes me some Doctor/Master pr0n gets a free RUSTY_HALO POSSE membership card. Or perhaps a LJ icon. :P

Date: 2008-03-14 08:45 pm (UTC)God forbid that you have strong opinions and write about them in your own journal. Apparently you should only discuss such things in locked posts and never ever link them where anyone else can see.

Date: 2008-03-14 09:15 pm (UTC)There's a difference between disagreement and flames. I'm fine with polite disagreement because it often means an interesting discussion. I don't really mind flames, either, because it means there's something to laugh my ass off about. So being linked from who_daily is kind of a win-win situation. >:) (And if they are so bothered--dude, it's really easy to not read my journal if I'm so upsetting that you can't help but flame me.)

Date: 2008-03-14 09:08 pm (UTC)I think it's kind of a compliment really, although a little weird how they cannot let it go -- then again, that describes fandom to a tee. But really -- failing for not liking old DW? Must have missed the hidden depths of caveman politics -- I just thought it was mindnumbingly boring.

Date: 2008-03-14 09:22 pm (UTC)Yeah, I can't really figure out what I did to make them continue wanking about something I posted two months ago (and five years ago), but whatever. Obviously I made an impression, and the crazy people are just making themselves look stupider.
I have no problem with those who like old Who. People are fans of all sorts of things that I don't get. I found it boring, I posted about it in my LJ. What's the problem? I'm not ripping on the people who love it; in fact a bunch of my friends who love it were giving me suggestions about which episodes to try next.

Date: 2008-03-14 11:26 pm (UTC)I found old Who pretty dull too. I did enjoy The Unearthly Child, but I was so bored with the first caveman episode that I stopped watching there. I like to watch things in order, but I have been thinking of just watching some of the 4th Doctor instead. Or The Mind Robber which sounds fun. I'm doing it all totally backwards, I've brought heaps of books to study what happened in the past so that I can understand the show history sufficiently, but I just can't stand actually sitting to watch someone shouting over and over, "We need fire!!!"

Date: 2008-03-14 11:32 pm (UTC)Yeah, I was pretty drunk at the time so my perceptions were a bit skewed, but that did seem to go on for about four hours straight. *sigh*
I actually did enjoy "An Unearthly Child." The characters were pretty interesting, Susan was cool, the Doctor was sufficiently mysterious, the plot moved along fairly quickly. But then the cavemen showed up and it all went downhill. :(
I'm probably going to jump ahead to when the Master shows up, since he is the thing (aside from David Tennant) that has made me squee most so far.

Er, gee, nothing happened. WHERE IS MY POSSE?
Oh, right. My friends are all independent thinkers whose opinions frequently vary from mine.

Date: 2008-03-15 03:17 pm (UTC)Can I still be in your posse if I don't write any Who (whilst liking all the New-Who characters)? I promise to kill trolls with my brain (as long as I can do it without moving off this couch).

Date: 2008-03-16 06:32 pm (UTC)I mean, on some level, you know, it actually does hurt my feelings to get personally attacked. But mostly... dude, the people who will personally attack a real person because she has a differing opinion about a fictional character? Really aren't worth thinking about anyway except to point and laugh at the stupid.
You are totally welcome to be in my posse. :) We can kill trolls with the power of, um, laughing at how silly it is to be a troll on the internet.
